Research highlights bids from Local Authorities for funding nappy recycling


M-E-L , Birmingham, has hit the headlines in the recycling industry’s leading online publisher 'Letsrecycle' with news of the likely uptake of the government's new £250million Weekly Waste Collection Fund.
 
MEL, public sector services research experts and consultancy, surveyed English local authorities to investigate the likelihood of them applying to the Department of Communities and Local Government for funding under the scheme.
 
Their unique research revealed that of the authorities likely to bid, 10 – 15% of them, a ‘significant’ number according to M-E-L, had disclosed their intention of applying for funding for piloting separate weekly nappy/diaper collection schemes.
